Le PMW-EX1 XDCAM-EX permettra de faire des images HD en gardant un boitier extremement compact. Le XDCAM EX sera le premier format Sony Pro a utiliser la technologie des cartes memoires. Il aura la possibilité d'enregistrer jusqu'à 2 heures en HD sur deux cartes Express PC. Les cartes PC Express sont devenues la reference en matiere de support d'enregistrment surpassant la technologie des cartes PC. Les fabriquants tels que Sony, Toshiba ou Apple fournissent maintenant des produits equipés d'un lecteur de PC Express. Avec une politique de technologie ouverte, Sony prévoit un developpement très large du media PC Express.
